In case of an outbreak of FMD a number of alternative strategies might be feasible to eradicate the disease. Epidemiological modelling and socio-economic analysis are important components that can provide valuable information to the decision maker. However, other aspects and preferences of different stakeholders need to be considered by the decision maker as well. Participatory multi criteria analysis is a method that can facilitate the decision making process by separating facts from opinions and address the stakeholder’s opinion to reach broad acceptance amongst stakeholders.
